Conference Policies

Delegates are expected to abide by conference policies throughout the duration of the conference. Delegates found to be acting in violation of the conference policies may be asked to leave committee, become ineligible for awards, and have advisors notified.

Dress Code

Delegates are required to dress in Western Business Attire (WBA) during all committee sessions, with the exception of faith-based deviations. If you face any difficulties in acquiring professional clothing, please contact the SMUNC staff at secgen@smunc.org.

Pre-Written Resolutions & AI

Pre-written resolutions, directives, and other committee documents are not allowed to be used during SMUNC. Plagiarism and the use of AI tools in the writing of committee documents is strictly prohibited. This includes paraphrasing and quoting without credit.

Technology Policy

One laptop per delegation will be allowed in General Assembly committees. The use of laptops and other technology is not allowed in Specialized and Crisis committees, which will be paper-only. Two legal pads will be provided for crisis committees. All delegates will get sticky notes and pens for notes.

Delegate Dance

The Delegate Dance, which will be held on Saturday evening, is open to all delegates. However, wristbands will be required to attend, which will be distributed after the end of committee on Friday in main quad. Wristbands will be delivered on a first-come-first-serve basis, as there is maximum capacity for the dance. Delegates will be required to show their committee name tags in order to enter the dance.

Advisor Professionalism

We understand SMUNC is a substantial committment for advisors and we are grateful for this contribution that allows this conference to exist. However, our staff are expected to be treated with respect and politeness as adults. Harassment or verbally berating conference staff is absolutely unacceptable for any reason. Furthermore, an advisor violating code of conduct rules that would otherwise bar a student from participating, will result in the disqualification of said advisor’s entire delegation from awards.
